Important tips for publishing your audiobook wide

-Use an aggregate distributor (Authors Republic, InAudio, Spoken Realms, etc.) to publish your audiobooks on most platforms

-A few retailers, including Kobo and Google play allow you to publish directly (without a distributor). This will take more work but it cuts out the middleman on those platforms

-If you publish directly to retailers AND through a distributor, be sure to let your distributor know in order to avoid double listings. Some will allow you to uncheck them when you upload the audio.

-If you publish through ACX and through a distributor, be sure to select the “wide” distribution option on ACX.

-Most distributors don’t have a way to split royalty payments up between parties. Wide distribution is best for rights holders who pay a PFH (Per Finished Hour) rate to their narrator/ producers, or for those who self-narrate. One exception is Spoken Realms, but you must work with a narrator/producer who has been approved by them or use their in-house production.
